Federal Responsibilities
Examples: Foreign policy, immigration, taxation, currency, criminal laws, transportation, national defense, Aboriginal Peoples, postal system, employment insurance

Provincial Govt BC Provincial Govt is located in Victoria
Governs a Province or Territory BC Provincial Govt is located in Victoria PROV LAWS AND REGULATIONS

Provincial Responsibilities
Examples: Education, Health Care, provincial taxation, provincial police, management of natural resources, roads and bridges, housing

Municipal Govt -Vancouver City Hall -Govt at a local/city level
Vancouver = Mayor Gregor Robinson Develops polices and By-laws

Examples: Local police, local schools, fire departments, public transport, building permits, parks and rec, garbage and recycling collection Video Government Levels

Aboriginal Self-Government
Band Council Leader = Chief Deals with matters internal to the community Deals with federal ministers on issues regarding the band lands Why are Aboriginal Self-Governments needed? like licenses, education, impediments to band lands -Aboriginal nations fighting for their right to self government: As aboriginals had their own government systems in place prior to Europeans arriving in Canada -These aboriginal governments systems were pushed aside and destroyed by colonial government (turned Canadian government) -Need for consult between Canadian Govt and Aboriginals in matter that affect Aboriginal rights, values, traditions, and land
