Sedimentary Rock forms by the ongoing buildup (deposition) of rocks and other sediments that become compacted (packed) and cemented (joined).

Sediment is loose particles of clay, sand, gravel, shells, plant pieces, etc.

Sediments may be transported and deposited by moving wind, water, or ice.
