The One True ‘American Queen’
Jackie Kennedy’s Iconic Style and the Fashion Industry
2
Why The Kennedy’s have always fascinated me, along with the fashion industry. Jackie Kennedy was the perfect candidate to serve as a connection between these two worlds. I thought analyzing the connection between these two would make for a riveting and interesting paper.
3
Resources I researched and looked into a variety of sources. I used books, websites, magazines, and databases to secure the facts and alternative opinions in my paper.

Early Life Jacqueline Lee Bouvier was born on July 28, 1929 in Southampton, New York. She was born to Janet Lee and John Vernou Bouvier III, a wealthy banker from a powerful French family. Her parents divorced in 1940 when Jackie was still very young. She became more involved in high society and turned into a marvelous debutant. She was crowned debutante of the year in 1947.
5
White House She met John Kennedy in 1951 while she was working as a photographer for the Washington Times Herald. They dated for two years and married on September 12th, 1953. When John ran for president, her humor and charm won over the public. She was a dutiful but stylish political wife and achieved celebrity status as the First Lady.

White house style Jackie preferred the colors yellow, peach, and turquoise while in the White House. She often wore long sleeveless taffeta dresses softened with a bow or subtle jewels. A-line frocks and dusters of the same cut and color were also a common look for her. Jackie enjoyed suits with a flared skirt. The hem below the knee paired with a short jacket with three-fourth sleeves and a round neck was a classic look for Jackie to wear during this time period
7
Trends The most popular trends that Jackie popularized were the big round sunglasses, the three sting pearls, the pillbox hats, designed by Roy Halston, the Hermès scarves and Cartier watches.

Jackie had the uncanny ability to start trends, popularize stores and have her own unique style throughout her lifestyle. Through these ways she has both affected the fashion industry while also becoming a fashion icon.
