1 3rd Grade Parent Meeting
Welcome, parents!

4 Agenda This is the daily contact letting parents know what is going on at school. Great place to write notes between parents and teachers.

5 Responsibilty Calendars
Students who misbehave will have their calendars signed by a teacher or another responsible adult at school. The calendars have codes that teachers use to mark student infractions. There is a notes section on the back. Calendars must be signed EVERY week. Positive reinforcement is key to the calendar system. Students with more than 4 signatures will not be included in the pup party.

6 Parent Portal/ Grades If you don’t have a password, or do not know yours, please contact the school office for assistance. Mondays are great days to check your child’s grades through Parent Portal. Progress reports will be sent home the 4th week of the 9 week period.

7 Math… Multiplication, multiplication, multiplication, multiplication, multiplication!!!! Brand new concepts, a faster pace and more rigorous!!!! Place value is key. Math is common in daily life discuss math at home, at the store, in the car… Help at home!!!!

8 Reading Transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn. Chapter books are a requirement. READ AT HOME!!! slide.

10 Sitton Spelling There will be no weekly list that comes home.
Words to learn will be in the spirals that are in the binders.

11 Science Third grade has a huge unit on the solar system. Students will have a project on a planet they are responsible for completing for a major grade in the spring.

12 Social Studies Third grade focuses on communities.
We have a Living Museum at the end of the school year with costumes, scripts and ANOTHER project at home!

13 Tutoring Benchmark- Week of Oct. 27th and the week of Feb. 2nd Tutoring is based on the scores from benchmark testing, MAPS testing, and teacher discretion. Tutoring invitations will be sent home in the fall.

14 Classroom rewards are given for great behavior
Classroom rewards are given for great behavior. Superhero tickets are part of a special program that all teachers are coordinating to encourage positive character traits.

15 Student Birthday Celebrations
Can bring goodies anytime of day, but it will not be celebrated until the end of the day.

16 Class Parties Winter Party Valentine’s Party
Movie Day at the end of the year.

17 Field Trip: To Be Determined

18 Tardiness School starts at 7:45
If you aren’t in the classroom by the time the second bell rings, please check in at the school office before coming to class. If you are tardy two times you will be contacted and the third time will be assigned a 45 minute after school detention. Students will be sent to office on the third tardy.

19 STAAR Test Dates Math STAAR is April 21st Reading STAAR is April 22nd
(Dates are subject to change.) Don’t panic! Emphasize to your child that we will learn all about the subjects on the test. Paying attention and listening in class is key!!!!
