Personal Narrative: Brainstorming
Think of a time in your life when you used or wish you would have used one of the Habits. Write the Habit you used or wish you had used at the top of your notecard with your name. Write a one-two sentence summary of how you used or did not use that Habit. Fold your notecard in half. Write “Now what?” on one side and “So what?” on the other.
12
Personal Narrative: Brainstorming
Turn to a partner(s) at your table, and read your story about the time you used that Habit of Mind. Partner(s): Ask “So what (does your story have to do with the Habit of Mind)?” in a way that allows your partner to think about why the story he or she told was important and showed the Habit of Mind. Once you tell your partner your story, write how your story illustrates the Habit of Mind you chose under the “So what?” heading on your notecard. On the “Now what?” side, write how you would continue to use that Habit or will implement that Habit in the future.
