3. Business Background
Bestfriends Grooming is a dog grooming shop that is not computerized in any way. All office procedures such as appointment scheduling and customer maintenance currently use a physical file system. Information is mainly stored on note cards, appointment books and various file cabinets. To minimize the paper trail and make it easier for customers to make appointments, a system will be needed.

4. Business Need
This project will improve the business’s efficiency, facilitate appointment scheduling and improve customer satisfaction through the use of a customer management database and system.

5. System Requirements
Through the use of forms, employees will need access to the following functions:
Access customer and pet information
Appointment scheduling
View past appointments and services administered

6. Functionality
By utilizing a customer database, it will be easy to maintain customer information and schedule appointments.
A form can be used to enter the criteria needed to bring up past appointments and view information.

7. Business Value: Tangible
Maximize time use by eliminating the need to file away physical files or retrieve appointment books and/or customer information.
Increase revenue by allotting more time and staff to providing services. This will allow the business to cater to more customers.

Improve customer satisfaction.
Customers will spend less time waiting for past information to be pulled which will lead to faster service and happier customers.

9. Special Issues or Constraints
Time will be needed for data entry. All hard copy files will need to be entered into the database before the system can be used.
New hardware and software will be needed to support the computers and internal network.
