8th Grade College Trip Parent Meeting

Primary Contact Katrina Blakely, Assistant Principal JLCP Parents will be able to contact Mrs. Blakely during the trip as well as contacting the school if any questions or concerns arise. The school will be able to contact Ms. Blakely or the chaperones at any time.

Student Classwork assignments
Students are responsible for communicating with their teachers to get any and all assignments that will be missed during the field trip. Students must complete and submit their assignments to teachers as soon as possible upon return to school.

Students may not leave assigned areas without chaperone permission.
Student Safety Students may not walk anywhere alone. All students must be with a buddy or the group at all times. Students are expected to report any concerns to a chaperone immediately. Students may not leave assigned areas without chaperone permission.

Departure Information
Arrive at Julia Landon (Minerva Ave-Bus Loading Zone) at 6:00 am Monday May 7th. We will depart promptly at 6:30 am. Please call Ms. Blakely if you will be late. We will be on a very tight schedule on Day 1 of the trip. Please make sure you eat or bring your breakfast on May 7. We will not stop for breakfast on Day 1.

Arrival Information We will arrive back in Jacksonville, FL (Minerva Ave- Bus Loading Zone) at 3:30pm on Wednesday May 9th. Students will call parents from the bus if there are any delays with the 3:30 pm arrival time.

All students must be in rooms for room check at 10:00.
Evening information All students must be in rooms for room check at 10:00. Doors will be taped to ensure all students remain safe in rooms. Throughout the night, chaperones will make random checks of all student room doors. Students may call Ms. Blakely’s room number or cell phone number if any assistance is needed at night.

Weather Students should pack school appropriate clothing for the weather (closed toe shoes, rain jackets, umbrellas are suggested).

Bus information Students may bring movies on the trip for the bus ride. All movies must be approved my Ms. Blakely to be viewed on the bus. Girls and boys must sit separately on the bus at all times. The following items will not be accepted on the bus at any time: Ice cream in any form Pizza Drinks which do not have a “secured” lid (i.e. cans or open-mouth cups) Any nuts which need to be shelled (sunflower seeds, pistachio nuts, boiled peanuts, etc.) Gum

All passengers must seated while the coach is in motion.
Bus information The motor coach floor and aisles must be kept 100% litter free at all times. The restroom in the rear of the coach is available for your use in case of emergency. We will make rest stops for convenience every few hours. All passengers must seated while the coach is in motion. Students are also encouraged to bring their own personal snacks if they would like.

Student Shopping Students may visit gift shops to purchase their own personal keepsakes. Students will be solely responsible for any personal money or items purchased while on the trip.

Students are expected to display appropriate behavior at ALL times.
Student behavior Students are expected to display appropriate behavior at ALL times. Parents will be contacted immediately if students are failing to follow expectations. Consequences will be determined if necessary by Ms. Blakely for any inappropriate behavior.
