Building Blocks for WB’s Carbon Pricing Work
Make the Case (CPLC, CAPE) Evidence Base (PMR, CPLC, NCM, RBCF) Pilots, Tools, Models (TCAF, PAF) TA/CB (PMR, NDCp, NCM) ADVOCACY KNOWLEDGE - HL Commission - PP partnership - Target Finance Ministries - ETS/Tax Handbooks - Transparency Linking - Crediting methodologies ADVISORY INNOVATION - Readiness - Policy analysis - Design services - Auctions - Bonds - Guarantees - Large-scale crediting
4
Partnership for Market Readiness
The PMR provides support to countries to design and implement a range of climate change mitigation policies and cost-effective measures – including carbon pricing instruments – in order to scale up GHG mitigation. Supported activities Participation Grant funding to improve technical and institutional “readiness”, including on GHG registries; MRV systems, data collection and management tools, and regulation Piloting and testing of innovative market instruments (e.g., ETS, carbon tax and new crediting mechanisms) Provide a platform for technical discussions and knowledge creation, country-to-country exchanges, and collective innovation on new market instruments Support countries’ efforts to determine post mitigation scenarios and identify packages of effective and cost-efficient policies to achieve mitigation. Share lessons learned and best practices with the International community Participants include: 20 developing countries/emerging economies & 13 countries that donate financially
