5 What does I.C.E mean and WHY do we perform these steps in an emergency situation?

C=compression (helps reduce swelling and helps with stability-if broken) E=elevation (brings blood flow away from the injured area, reducing swelling. Delivers more oxygen to brain to help with shock).

7 Scenario: Your friend is clenching their throat and can’t breath, what should you do in this emergency situation?

Answer *5 Back Blows (Open fist, palm in middle of shoulder blades, apply force in attempt to dislodge the object) *5 Abdominal Thrusts (closed fist at belly button, wrap other arm/hand around and make a backward “c” motion to try and dislodge the object. Repeat: 5 back blows and 5 ab. thrusts
