2 Who were the Vikings? Lifestyle based on sea voyage and pirating
Nordic people Education= unimportant Warriors Religion= many gods; animal sacrifices

3 Video on Vikings While you watch, write down observations. How are the Vikings described?

Raided coastal villages across Europe Methods: plundering, killing, burning villages Took advantage of a divided Europe (post- Charlemagne) Viking warships/weaponry intimidated people Experienced sailors, traders, explorers

Europeans terrified--> looked towards local lords to protect them

7 So..a recap Divided kingdom (post Charlemagne) + intimidating Vikings/other invaders = people rely on manors and lords for protection (feudalism develops)
