The Scientific method What’s the difference between a theory & a law?
Des, D. S. Sumiyoshi HS, Osaka
2
Science always starts with a question…
3
Science is based on PROOF, not guesses or opinions!
4
The Scientific Method is a tool
5
After the question, science needs a Hypothesis; a simple guess.
6
We must test our hypothesis with 1. observations & 2
We must test our hypothesis with 1. observations & 2. carefully designed experiments
7
if failed, New Hypothesis
or RETEST, if passed

Share findings & Conclusions with the scientific community for re-testing & verification

Questions & ANSWERs The scientific method What is the difference between a theory & a law? A _(c) law__ is a theory that has never been proven wrong. Which of the following would make a good hypothesis. Trees grow better in soil than sand. If an experiment fails to confirm your hypothesis, what is the next step. B. Make another hypothesis. Explain why your answer to question 2 makes a good hypothesis. The idea “Trees grow better in soil than sand” can be tested & proven right or wrong. Why should a scientist always share the results of his or her experiments? Sharing results lets other scientists check the experiment to try & get the same results. Number the steps of the scientific method in the correct order. 1. Question -> 2. Hypothesis -> 3.Experiment -> 4. Share Results -> 5. Theory -> 6. Law
