Standards: Ours Gives us a sense of reference: pass/fail; good/bad; better/worse; etc. Love it or hate it…we use it ALL THE TIME.

The Self-Righteous Christian
Will judge others (sinners, professed Christians, other Christians): never considering their own sins and weaknesses in light of judging others. 2 Corinthians 10:12

The Side-Effect of Comparing Others by Ourselves
We unintentionally reveal flaws/sin about ourselves: pride, hatred, jealousy. This form of comparison reveals a self- righteous attitude. Matt. 7:1-5

A Super Problem: the self-righteous often lack empathy or sympathy when judging others, while failing to see their own sins.

We intentionally reveal our flaws/sin about ourselves: pride, hatred, jealousy. This form of comparison reveals a humbled attitude.

The Humbled Christian Will judge others (sinners, professed Christians, other Christians): thinking firstly of our own sins and weaknesses in light of our judgments about others. 1 Tim. 1:15

Standard: Jesus Crucified
Gives us a sense of reference: ALL SIN and fall short of glory. Rom. 3:23 Love it or hate it…we’re divinely judged by this ALL THE TIME.
