WE SHALL OVER COME IS A HYMN OF HOPE THE HOPE OF THE DREAMER
WHAT IS HOPE? Some call it optimism. – magic hope and realistic hope. Magic hope is sheep optimism. – tomorrow everything will be alright. – with the passage of time – everything will automatically become better. Change is not always good. OPTIMISM IS NOT GENUINE HOPE. REALISTIC HOPE: REALISTIC HOPE IS BASED ON THE WILLINGNESS TO FACE THE RISK OF FAILURE AND EMBRACE A COURSE OF ACTION WITH AN DETERMINED QUALITY – THE HYMN SAYS WE SHALL OVER COME. What is hoed for is already present. With endurance it will be fulfilled If you hope FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE – then know that you already have the power to work for peace. It is with that hope of peace that you have the endurance and the strength to make it a reality.

But on the first day, Jonah preached its destruction (v. 4). When the people heard that their city would be destroyed, the season of transgression turned into a season of repentance and faith in Yahweh (v. 5). The sign of repentance was their clothes, sackcloth and ashes (vv. 7-8). What season are you in currently? What is holding you back from perceiving God’s grace and mercy?
