Ontario Linkages Project Goals:
Increase the awareness among the Advanced Manufacturing and the Information Technology Sectors about the opportunities, benefits, and ways to engage & employ Indigenous talent Provide opportunities for organizations & companies to connect, learn about one another, and collaborate – Information Sessions Develop an inventory of programs, service and resources that can support Indigenous peoples education, training, and hiring into the IT & Advanced Manufacturing Sectors

Ontario Linkages Project Goals:
Research and report on the situational analysis of the sectors – opportunities, needs, challenges & promising practices Host a Workforce Connex event for stakeholders to develop actionable steps to carry forward with their engagement after the project closes

What has been happening…
Establishing a ‘library’ of sources for the situational analysis Developed initial communication messages & website Outreach with information to ASETS, educators, associations, employers, labour market boards, other organizations Discussion with groups to engage for the steering committee Creating opportunities to promote the project – articles & events Sourcing promising practices to add to situational analysis research Attended Minister Philpott’s IT Roundtable, Inclusion Works

Where are we going… Communication & Engagement – CACEE event in May, Information session in November to co-host with Sir Wilfred Laurier University, Ottawa group interested in an information session, CERIC article & Cannexus 2019 application Situational Analysis & Inventory of Programs– gathering reports & promising practices/models – Actua STEM program research; Manitoba Broadband Communications North, JEDI – New Brunswick IT training model Steering Committee – recruiting members –CCDF, a few ASETS, Sir Wilfred Laurier University, Actua CACEE – Canadian Association of Career Educators & Employers CERIC - Canadian Education and Research Institute for Counselling
