As the Celebration Fund is nearing completion,
To date, the Celebration Fund has allocated $87, of $150,000 for 50th events and projects. Of this amount, $56, has been allocated to events to which students are invited as guests or active participants. These events with a student component include: Student 50th Celebration (complete) Indigenous Inventions & Innovations (complete) Wendat Workshop (complete) Blackwood Gallery’s Parklands (complete) Ramadan Iftar (complete) CUE launch (upcoming) Poles Apart? (upcoming) Chinese Economy, Bank of Canada conference (upcoming) Photographer Laureate (ongoing) Canada’s Changing Arctic (upcoming) Bruce Lourie lecture: MScSM (upcoming) SmartiGras (upcoming) Art50 (upcoming) Global 50 (upcoming) As the Celebration Fund is nearing completion, we will be communicating a final Celebration Fund cut-off of September 15

Legacy Fund Student proposal approved: MScSM/ICUBE/Just Vertical
Awarded $10,000 for one tower farmwall located in the Rotunda. Conner Tidd & Kevin Jakiela, two graduate students from the UTM Master of Science in Sustainability Management program, started an urban food social enterprise at the ICUBE that is focused on giving access to fresh sustainable food to urbanites. Conner and Kevin have submitted an additional proposal for an educational program around the farmwall, to be applied to their original award of $10,000 Legacy Funds: Next meeting is scheduled for August 2, to review 5 current proposals
