Timber replaces fur as the main export out of Quebec and the economy is increasing as is the standard of living.

Increased number of workers and artisans Banks emerge as a result of the larger economy and excess money. (Bank of Montreal) This gives people more access to credit and capital...the economy is changing.

5. Grosse Ile A) It was a quarantine station for the Port of Québec from 1832 to 1937. B) At the time, the island was the main point of entry for immigrants (mostly Irish) coming to Canada. C) Cholera was a disease that was brought by immigrants and this was basically an island where sick immigrants would be dropped off to die.
