12 Spring 2018 Programs Tournament Teams – Junior Hurricanes will provide ice needs and T1 registration for any teams wishing to form for spring and summer optional tournaments including State Games, but teams cannot be formed until after try- outs for their respective level of play

13 Spring 2018 Programs Junior Hurricanes Free PNC Squirt Clinic for Rising 2009 and 2008 Birth Years The Junior Hurricanes are once again offering a free Squirt skills clinic for all 2009 and birth year players that are interested in playing travel hockey next season and learning more about the Junior Hurricanes Squirt Program offering. The clinic will be held at PNC Arena on Wednesday, March 28th from 6:45 - 8:15 p.m. The session will be run by current Junior Hurricanes coaches that have and will continue to coach at the Squirt level including former NHL players and Junior Hurricanes coaches Shane Willis, Jesse Boulerice and Steve Rice. The clinic will provide an example of the coaching philosophy for the squirt age group for skaters and goalies and give parents a chance to see their player on-ice with some of our coaches. The Carolina Hurricanes mascot Stormy will make an appearance as well and each player will receive a special Junior Hurricanes keepsake. During the on-ice session Dan Hollis, Shane Willis, Steve Henley and other members of the Junior Hurricanes Board of Directors will be available for a brief presentation on the Junior Hurricanes Program in section 114 overlooking the arena. The clinic is limited to only 2009 and birth years for both skaters and goalies. Registration is now open and will close on Monday, March 26th.

22 Spring 2018 Programs Spring Pick-up Rules Team rosters of 10 minimum, 12 maximum (not including goalies) Games will be 50 minutes Coaches only there to ensure equal ice time and supervision No referees but penalties may be called and result in penalty shot We will honor requests for players to be the same team as much as possible, however, we reserve the right to ensure balance and competitiveness Registration are set up and will be capped once rosters are full If registrations are light we may have to cut back the program

23 Play Up Policy Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget first year players may be asked to try out for Major teams at Tier I AAA – at coaches discretion No second year players at any level will be allowed to play up to the next age level except 16U to 18U Mites are NOT eligible to try out for Squirt programs per CAHA rules GIRLS REC Players may play up or down an age group depending on skill level Girls national bound 14U and 16U players can play up to 16U and 19U teams respectively

26 Mite Partner with PHHL to provide an enhanced experience for 8U Advanced players Junior Hurricanes will run 8U Select Program PHHL runs fall league evaluations with help of Junior Hurricanes to aid in determining advanced division. Evaluations will select Advanced teams that practice and play with PHHL, BUT players can chose additional SELECT Program. Select Program will have one Player Development session weekly that also incorporates off ice conditioning. Session will be run by Junior Hurricanes coaches centrally at the IcePlex. Junior Hurricanes coach 2-3 Select Jamborees all within the affiliate or adjacent affiliates (e.g. Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston, DC, etc.) Jesse Boulerice will be the lead coach for Select Program Players pay regular PHHL fee then additional fee TBD for Junior Hurricanes Select Program.  PHHL continues to schedule/run all regular weekly practices and games for normal league play.

45 Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser
Please save the date for the Junior Hurricanes 5th Annual Golf Fundraiser to be held on Saturday, April 21st at the Heritage Golf Club in Wake Forest. The day will be loaded with golf and then followed by a Lobster Bake dinner, music and great company! Reservations are now open and looking for golf foursomes, event and hole sponsors and event volunteers. All proceeds will benefit the Junior Hurricanes Youth Hockey Program and the Junior Hurricanes Scholar-Athlete Awards.

46 The Performance Academy (TPA)
Official and Exclusive Strength & Conditioning Partner of The Junior Hurricanes Partnership Announced Late January: Junior Hurricanes players invited to attend TPA's Open House event in North Raleigh to receive FREE assessment and corrective exercise pattern recommendation. Launched This Week: An 8-week strength training program developed specifically for Junior Hurricanes players to help prep for try-outs and upcoming competitive season. Players will be assessed and monitored to track improvement. Final reports will be available to coaching staff as an additional tool for continued training and to maximize performance. Off-Season 2018: Strength & Conditioning and/or Speed & Agility training opportunities available as well as summer camps.

Season: TPA will provide combined off-site training sessions during our practices at Arenas. The Focus: To help players reach maximum potential and ensure their bodies stay ready for competition year round. The Goal: To maximize player ON-ICE PERFORMANCE and decrease potential risk for injury by enhancing mobility, strength, power and muscle mass through cutting-edge OFF-ICE TRAINING.
