Your spellings for this fortnight are to be learnt for a test the week beginning Monday 18th January 2016 You can choose to learn 6 or all of them. You can learn them by completing four of the spelling activities. adorable adorably applicable applicably considerable considerably tolerable tolerably changeable noticeable forcible legible Remember: The –able/–ably endings are far more common than the –ible/–ibly endings. As with –ant and –ance/–ancy, the –able ending is used if there is a related word ending in –ation. If the –able ending is added to a word ending in –ce or –ge, the e after the c or g must be kept as those letters would otherwise have their ‘hard’ sounds (as in cap and gap) before the a of the –able ending. Activities – You must do this task but the making/cooking part is optional. Make a list of foods that change state when heated or cooled, such as eggs, water, butter and chocolate. Plan and make an ‘alchemist’s banquet’ for your family and include foods from your list. You could add a bit of sparkle by sprinkling edible glitter or silver and gold balls on top! If you make it, write up a review of the meal from anyone who ate the banquet. You may also include comments from them or include pictures of the food. Termly Project – You can make/draw the map of Alchemy Island with whatever materials you wish. Include as many parts of the map as you can. Bring this in whenever it is complete but it must be in before the final week of term (5/2/16).
