Research & Innovation Research doesn’t have to be boring !!!! This is how most people envision research…. A bunch of white coats in a lab analysing STUFF.

Research & Innovation The Birds Do it, The Bees Do it We do it everyday, you might not even be aware that you are researching. My story Relevancy on innovation – for every top notch organization MRI is not just for scanning parts of your body the nature of my undergraduate & graduate studies naturally fell into “research” in the biblical sense. I also didn’t think I was exceptionally good in this discipline. Research & Innovation goes hand in hand. Through research we discover how to innovate – I worked & have many friends in the food industry and one of them used to say: “how many ways can you put chocolate, caramel & nougat together?” - layers, inclusions, sizes – mini, singles, 85g, Mega bars; dark, milk chocolate, with nuts – what nuts almonds, peanuts, BURNT Almonds MRI also means the Ontario Ministry of Research & Innovation – they are highly encouraging research & innovation as key to shifting to an economy built on ideas…..to innovate. At GBC I think it makes a lot of sense to do research & innovation in all the disciplines within all our schools – I got so proud seeing the very diverse projects of the students at a recent presentation ……from green energy initiatives such as small scale wind turbines, to a vest with built in heart monitor, to walking robot, health & wellness eating…….

When I work on an applied research project, my goal is to help change the way we go about our daily life, and provide a better quality of life for my family……when the connection is there; it makes so much more sense. It is blatant that relatively speaking, this country is not so focused on research & innovation, but the climate is changing.
