A $1.2 million collection of curricular aligned authoritative digital resources licensed on behalf of all Alberta: K-12 students and their parents School Staff Pre-Service teachers Public Library Staff * Funded by a yearly Grant-In-Aid from Alberta Education to The Alberta Library (TAL) *for the purposes of supporting K-12 patrons

Provides authoritative, age appropriate, curricular aligned content Google and Wikipedia are the tip of the searching and information literacy iceberg Allow students to become familiar and comfortable with the kind of resources and searching practises that are integral to 21st century learning Are time savers once users become familiar with them Include embedded supports for diverse learners like listen, text translation, citation tools, vetted websites, copyright friendly pictures and videos Provide anytime, from anywhere with an internet connection access

Blended learning platform that is “Mission Control for class” You can create classes, communicate with your students, distribute assignments and grades, send feedback, create questions/writing prompts, and archive your class material Can see who has finished an assignment and who is still working on it Can allow students to respond to questions/writing prompts and start a class discussion for “Instant Collaboration” Paperless Ties in Google Drive, Google Docs, Sheets, and Gmail Privacy: Does not show any advertisements and users data is not used for advertising purposes

8 Q: how do I use Google Classroom?
If your institution is registered with Google Classroom, you…. Log in with your institution name and create your Google Class Add your students by: sending your class code or add them manually Create your assignments, writing prompts, class message, etc. Add Direct Referring URLs for ORC resources so you and your students can access them right in your Google Class

It was newly added to the 2017/2018 ORC Collection. As a Gale resource, it uses the same interface as Gale’s “In Context” databases. If users are familiar with the “In Context” databases, they can easily navigate Literature Resource Center as it shares some of the same features and functionality. This resource also supports the grade 2 social studies curriculum. Although it does not have specific information on Meteghan or Saskatoon it does include information about the provinces. This resource is also a great starting point for the grades 4 and 5 social studies curricula.
