3 Program Overview 9s 9s Community (9 on or before 30 April, 2018; mostly current 3rd graders) Balanced teams made up of Community-only and tournament players Community only player evaluations will be held April 14 & 15 (April 21 & 22 make up) Coaches to be present during evaluations Snake draft will be held immediately following evaluations 12-14 games starting after Mother’s Day Year-end tournament likely to be held June (not past 4 July) Currently at 4 teams Each team will also get the chance to be announced at a Chanhassen Storm High School Game Assuming we can secure a volunteer (8 hours of volunteer credit) to coordinate Games/Practices: Weekdays 9s Tournament (9 on or before 30 April, 2018; mostly current 3rd graders) Balanced teams made up of tournament team players; compete at AA level Tryouts: March 19 (6:00 – 8:00pm) & March 21 (6:00 – 8:00 pm) Pioneer Ridge Middle School Teams to be snaked by Tournament Director based on tryout score to create equivalent teams Quantity of teams will be based on the tryout numbers 3 summer tournaments included in registration fees Each team is responsible for their own fees for state tourneys (if qualified) More competitive than in-house Practices on Wed, Games on Friday – Sunday (depending on results)

4 Program Overview 10-11s 10/11s Community League (Age on or before 30 April, current 4th & 5th graders) Balanced teams made up of Community-only players Community only player evaluations will be held late April 14 & 15 (April 21 & 22 rain date) Coaches to be present during evals Snake draft will be held immediately following evals 12-14 games starting after Mother’s Day Year-end tournament to be held July 14-15 Participate in league with Chaska, Eden Prairie, Edina, and Shakopee community teams under common rules Games/Practices: Weekdays 10/11s Tournament Teams (Age on or before 30 April, 2018; 4th & 5th graders) AAA, AA, as many A teams as numbers dictate 10s Tryouts: Saturday, 17 7:30PM-9:30PM; Sunday, 18 11:00AM-1:00PM 11s Tryouts: Saturday, 17 2:30PM-4:15PM; Sunday, 18 9:15AM-11:00AM 5 summer tournaments included in registration fees Tournaments are listed in Baseball Info > Documents > Tournament Schedule on website) Individual teams are responsible for paying for state tournaments (if they qualify & go) Practices: 2-3 during week tbd. Games Friday – Sunday 10/11s Tournament Team players DO NOT participate in the in-house league

Evaluations: April (rain date April 21-22) Community Draft: Immediately proceeding the evaluations Games Begin: Week of May 14th (weather permitting) Picture Day: May 14 & 15 Days of Play: Weekdays - regular practice or games Community Playoffs: July 14-15 Other key dates will be posted on the website Community Uniforms Pants, jerseys and hats – provided by Association Pant sizing -- April – with day/time forthcoming Coaches will distribute uniforms (when teams are formed)

6 How do I become a 9-11 Community coach?
Go to ChanhassenBaseball.com Complete the concussion training Go to Baseball Info > Concussion Training & follow steps Register Online as a coach Register > Register as a Coach Complete the Coach Application & Background Check Coaches will be notified prior to in-house evaluations (end of April) All assistants must be registered, with a background check & concussion training on file All managers must be registered as a key volunteer Three coaches and one manager per team each receive 8 hours volunteer credit

Tryouts 9s: Arrive 30 Minutes Early for Check In Pioneer Ridge Middle School Monday, 19 March 6:00PM-8:00PM and Wednesday, 21 March 6:00PM – 8:00PM Tryouts for 10s & 11s Tournament: Arrive 30 Minutes Early for Check In Eastern Carver County Athletic Center (THE DOME) T10s: Saturday 17 7:30PM-9:30PM; Sunday, 18 11:00AM-1:00PM T11s: Saturday 17 2:30PM-4:15PM; Sunday, 18 9:15 AM–11:00AM Team Selection: Goal to announce teams by March 23, 2018 Tournaments Begins: Weekend of May 11th Picture Day: May 14 & 15 Tournament Uniforms Pants (2 long), reversible jerseys and fitted hats – provided by Association Pioneer Ridge Middle School Monday, 12 March(5-6 pm – 9 year olds; ONLY; 6-9 pm – Tournament & Metro players) Tuesday, 13 March (5-8 pm –Tournament & Metro; 8-9 pm – 9 year olds ONLY) Knickers available through Lakeside Promotions (Greg Hastings) Optional 2nd jersey – TBD by coaches after teams are formed – through Lakeside Prom. Have kids wear shorts & bring checkbooks if you plan to purchase additional items

8 How do I become a 9-11 tournament coach?
Go to ChanhassenBaseball.com Complete the concussion training Go to Baseball Info > Concussion Training & follow steps Register Online as a coach Register > Register as a Coach Complete the Coach Application & Background Check Attend coach interview (expect from Ron Kalvoda) on Wednesday, 7 March through Friday, 9 March Qualification based on combination of interview feedback and prior year parent evaluations Selection made by Age Director in conjunction with the Player Agent & VP Baseball Only the head coach will be notified & present for team selection Assistant coaches to be selected by head coach All assistants must be registered, with a background check & concussion training on file All managers must be registered as a key volunteer Three coaches and one manager per team each receive 8 hours volunteer credit

9 Overview - Tryouts and Team Selection
Player Agent role Tryout dates – Saturday – Wednesday (March 17th – 21th) – Two required dates for tournament team tryouts Tryout logistics – Bats: USA Stamp of Approval – Attire: No club baseball or team level specific gear – Parents (Drop-off / Pick-up) – No Volunteer Check, No Team Assignment Volunteers needed – see website Tryout numbers: 9s s s-41 Goals: – Player Agent – best alignment of players and teams for player success and retention – Parents – lead by example (tryouts, team selection, season) – Season – challenge players appropriately, have fun and retain

11 If it is not in volunteer spot, then it does not qualify.
How do I volunteer? Volunteer deposit $150 volunteer deposit will be collected from every family via check Everyone needs to pay a volunteer deposit to be placed on a team If you have applied as a coach, manager, assistant manager or if you have completed some hours, you still must provide the check for the volunteer fee Checks will be destroyed at end of the season if volunteer hours are completed Coach Pitch 5/6 families are not required to complete volunteer hours or submit a check unless you have a kid in the 7/8 or older program To Sign Up for Volunteer Hours Go to Baseball & Softball Click on Volunteer Information Click on Volunteer Opportunities Volunteer expectations 8 hours per family (not per player) Spontaneous help is always welcome, but does not qualify as volunteer hours Volunteer hours are recorded by Volunteer Coordinator or via the CAA website When you apply to become a volunteer, you give our organization the right to conduct necessary background checks To qualify for volunteer hours, the job(s) must be posted on Volunteerspot. If it is not in volunteer spot, then it does not qualify. CHANHASSSEN CHALLENGE HOSTED 1-3 June, 2018 is great opportunity to receive credit!!

Storm Apparel -- CAA endorsed fundraising program Available through Lakeside Promotions Sweatshirts, shirts, jackets, Easton bat bags (backpack-style and rolling), batting helmets All items will have the Storm logo Lakeside Promotions will be on-site at parent meeting (today) and the following days/times (Pioneer Ridge Middle School): Monday, 12 March: 5-9 pm Tuesday, 13 March: 5-9 pm Wednesday, 21 March: 6-8 pm Show your Storm spirit and help raise money for our programs! The Dugout Club The Dugout Club is a booster club created to support diamond sports within the Chanhassen High School boundaries. The Dugout Club will be selling a limited number of bricks to build the Stadium Walk at the Chanhassen High School Stadium. Order at dugout-club.org
