High FSH – Follicular growth, E2 secretion from granulosa Moderate E2 – Positive FSH feedback High E2 – Negative FSH feedback, endometrial proliferation, stimulation of LH surge LH surge – ovulation, CL formation CL – secretion E2 and P4, inhibits FSH, LH No fertilization – CL degenerates, E2 and P4 drop, menstrual flow commences Low E2 – cycle begins anew

LH – Influences Leydig cell T production and is influenced by T levels; ABP from Sertoli cells concentrates T levels to support meiosis FSH – Controlled by levels of T, but also by inhibin production from Sertoli cells Testosterone supports spermatogenesis, FSH required for spermiogenesis LH – Assists in release of sperm from testis
