10. The Andasol Solar Power Station in Spain is a 50 MegaWatt power plant with a 7.5 hour battery. This battery consists of two tanks of molten salt thermal storage that helps the solar plant generate on-demand electricity in the evening, during rain or cloud cover. Total plant production is about 280,000 GWh per year – about enough power for 170,000 people. It covers almost 500 acres of land.

11. This solar plant in Tonopah, Nevada is designed to power up to 75,000 homes during peak electricity periods supplying 500,000 megawatt hours annually of clean, renewable electricity.

14. There is virtually an unlimited supply of solar energy for us to use making an inexhaustible energy resource. Our Sun will be usable for energy for another 1.5 – 3 billion years before it begins to become too hot for life to exist on the planet.
Solar energy is an excellent alternative energy source because there is no pollution generated while it is being used, so we actually reduce pollution with every watt of power generated from the Sun.
