1 Tropical Rain Forests By: Elise and Isabelle

2 What is a rain forest? A rain forest is a place where animals live and plants grow too. It rains 80 inches a year and the temperature is always around 80 degrees.

3 Location of Rain Forests
Most of the rain forests are located around the equator.The continent that has the most rain forest islands is Asia. The biggest rain forests is South America.

4 Emergent Layer The emergent layer is the highest layer. It’s where sloths, parrots, bats, butterflies, monkeys, and harpy eagles live.

5 Canopy Layer The canopy layer has the most animals because it has the most room. Birds, snakes, monkeys, bats, insects, sloths, lizards, and butterflies live in the canopy layer.

6 Understory Layer The understory layer is the last layer of trees. It has jaguars, porcupines, quills, kinkajous, frogs, ocelots, snakes, and geckos.

7 Forest Floor The forest floor has the most shade. The animals on the forest floor are armadillos, crocodiles, ocelots, jaguars, anteaters, tapirs, and insects.

8 Deforestation People are cutting down tree to make houses, furniture, floors, paper, matches, roads, schools, shopping areas, and desks.

9 People of the Rain Forest
There are some tribes in the rain forest like Yanomamo tribe. They get food from the rain forest trees.
