1 Still Life Photography
A still life (plural still lifes) is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on).

Composition of the still life governs the overall success of the interpretation (photograph) of it. Pieter Claesz, painting, 1528. Photography-inspired.com, photograph.

3 Painters, influenced by the invention of the camera, began to “interpret” still lifes to give their works a “human touch” element. Prior to this, realism was the rule. Van Gogh, 1888. Picasso, 1946. Cezanne, 1878.
