Love Lifted Me
6
I was sinking deep in sin, Far from the peaceful shore,
Very deeply stained within, Sinking to rise no more;
7
But the master of the sea Heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, Now safe am I.
8
Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help,
9
All my heart to him I give, In his blessed presence live,
Ever to him I’ll cling, In his blessed presence live, Ever his praises sing;
10
Love so mighty and so true Merits my soul’s best songs;
Faithful, loving service, too, To him belongs.
11
Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help,
12
Souls in danger look above, Jesus completely saves;
He will lift you by his love Out of the angry waves;
13
He’s the Master of the sea, He your Savior wants to be,
Billows his will obey; He your Savior wants to be, Be saved today.
14
Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help,

Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)
CCLI #606984
16
Amazing Grace How sweet the sound That saved A wretch like me I once was lost But now am found Was blind but now I see
17
T’was Grace that taught The hour I first believed
My heart to fear And Grace My fears relieved How precious did That Grace appear The hour I first believed
18
My chains are gone I've been set free My God my Savior
Has ransomed me And like a flood His mercy rains Unending love Amazing grace
19
His word my hope secures
The Lord has promised Good to me His word my hope secures He will my shield And portion be As long as life endures
20
The earth shall soon Dissolve like snow The sun forbear to shine But God Who called me here below Will be forever mine Will be forever mine You are forever mine

Mark 4:35–41 35 On that day, when evening came, He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him.
26
Mark 4:35–41 37 And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. 38 Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
27
Mark 4:35–41 39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. 40 And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
28
Mark 4:35–41 41 They became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
29
The Stiller of the Storm
There is nothing like a good storm to soften up the soil of a heart that is willing to look beyond the storm to the only One Who can still it.
30
The Stiller of the Storm
Jesus will sometimes take you through a storm to help you see who He really is.
31
Sermon in a Sentence When storms threaten to overtake us, 1) we must understand Jesus allows great storms to get our focus on Him (37–38); 2) we must trust in Jesus and not lose heart (39–40), and 3) we must be overwhelmed and motivated toward obedience by the greatness of Christ (41).
32
The Stiller of the Storm
1. We must understand Jesus allows great storms to get our focus on Him (37–38).
33
The Stiller of the Storm
There are certain things you can only learn about God in a storm; He sends storms because they are His laboratory. - J. D. Greear
34
The Stiller of the Storm
Until God puts you in a place where you need His sustaining power, you’ll never really have a chance to experience it. - J. D. Greear
35
The Stiller of the Storm
In verse 36, the apostles do not know what is coming. They think they are in control of the situation.
36
The Stiller of the Storm
You never add Jesus to your boat. If Jesus is in your boat, the boat belongs to Him.
37
The Stiller of the Storm
The difficulty in far too many churches and far too many individual Christian lives is we want a Jesus we can control not a Jesus who controls us and commands our attention in all things.
38
The Stiller of the Storm
When Jesus sends us into enemy territory on His mission with the gospel, we need to know He is greater than the greatest obstacles we face.
39
The Stiller of the Storm
2. We must trust in Jesus and not lose heart (39–40).
40
The Stiller of the Storm
“Why are you losing heart?” - Jesus, v. 41
41
The Stiller of the Storm
Nothing in creation is going to derail the plan of the Lord of Creation.
42
The Stiller of the Storm
The only time we see Jesus sleeping in the gospels is in the middle of hurricane-force winds. As Akin writes, “all the other seamen are afraid, and Jesus is asleep” (99).
43
The Stiller of the Storm
Jesus has shown us we can rest in the middle of the storm when we are pursuing God’s mission in the world.
44
The Stiller of the Storm
Jesus does not send the storm to shake your confidence but to clarify it.
45
The Stiller of the Storm
I have a firm conviction that I am immortal until my work is done. - Lottie Moon
46
The Stiller of the Storm
Whether the storm you are facing is one of your own creation, one you inherited, one you stumbled into, or even one God has sent, the point of the storm is not the greatness of the storm but the greatness of Jesus.
47
The Stiller of the Storm
Let’s not be more impressed with the storm than we are with our Savior.
48
The Stiller of the Storm
Just because you are in Jesus’ boat does not mean your life will be storm free.
49
The Stiller of the Storm
There will be days when Jesus does not quiet the storm, but, because we have seen who He is, He will be our quiet in the storm.
50
The Stiller of the Storm
3. We must be overwhelmed and motivated toward obedience by the greatness of Christ (41).
51
The Stiller of the Storm
Belonging to Jesus does not give you permission to be a storm maker.
52
The Stiller of the Storm
Jesus can stop with His word the creation He spoke into existence as the Word of God.
53
The Stiller of the Storm
“The presence of God is far more frightening than the most destructive forces of nature. One can take your life. One can claim your soul” (101).
54
The Stiller of the Storm
“Who is this that even the wind and the sea obey Him?” (41)
55
The Stiller of the Storm
As long as you fear the storm more than Jesus, you will obey the demands of the storm rather than the command of the Savior.
56
The Stiller of the Storm
True worship is a mixture of awe and intimacy – awe at realizing the true awesomeness of God, intimacy at realizing He paid your full sin debt and then brought you close. One without the other is a deformed spirituality. – J. D. Greear
57
The Stiller of the Storm
Those who fear Jesus do not need to fear anything else.

The Lion and The Lamb
69
He's coming on the clouds Kings and kingdoms will bow down
Every chain will break As broken hearts declare His praise For who can stop the Lord Almighty
70
And fighting our battles Every knee will bow before Him
Our God is a lion The Lion of Judah He's roaring with power And fighting our battles Every knee will bow before Him
71
For the sins of the world His blood breaks the chains
Our God is a lamb The lamb that was slain For the sins of the world His blood breaks the chains Every knee will bow before the lion and the lamb Every knee will bow before him
72
Make way before the King of Kings The God who comes to save
Open up the gates Make way before the King of Kings The God who comes to save Is here to set the captives free For who can stop the Lord Almighty
