What Do School Psychologists Do?
Assess students and determine if they meet Ministry of Education criteria for a learning disability or an intellectual disability. Provide more information about unique learners. Make specific, and appropriate data based recommendations for interventions to support a student’s academic, cognitive, and social emotional growth, which directly support teachers in the classroom. Collaboration and consultation with families, administrators, School Based Teams, counsellors, doctors, other specialists teachers, and classroom teachers across multiple schools. Often our assessments result in referrals to outside services (IHCAN, ADHD clinic, CYMH, CYSN, CLBC and pediatricians)
