Welcome to our 5th annual senior thesis poster session.
My name is Martin Stute and I coordinate the senior research seminar
for the Barnard Environmental Science Department,
the Department of Earth & Environmental Science
and the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Biology.
In addition to majors from those departments,
3 students from Columbia’s Department of Earth & Env. Engineering will also present their work at this session.
At the end of this winter, which does seem to end but just lies there twitching
we thought to bring you a sign of spring
This beautiful tulip is a symbol of the accomplishments of our graduating students who have so intensively worked
on their research projects for the past year.
Today is the day that they’ll share the blossoms of their hard work with you.
Before we begin, I like to thank the sponsors of today’s event, the EI at Columbia University, the Barnard Provost, and the involved departments.
Special thanks to all the research mentors and seminar advisors, Matt Palmer, Chris Scholz, and Brian Mailloux,
who worked tirelessly with our students over the past year.
Special thanks also to Catherine Cook, the mother of all majors in our department, for all her help and for never letting us go hungry.

and the lower right corner of the slide.
