Here’s what last seasons Silver students said …
“It's a great way to extend your expedition skills. You also go somewhere different and more interesting than Bronze.” “I finished Bronze not sure whether I wanted to carry on. I'm glad I did it and it's a shame so many people stop after Bronze. I enjoyed Silver a lot more and am now hoping to do Gold next year! “ “I think that it was a very good experience which I wouldn't have without Silver DofE and have made my friendships within the group stronger.”
7
“I decided to do the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award because I had something to prove both to myself and others. To myself, I had to prove that I wasn't as dependent as I thought and that I had the power with the help of others to become more mobile and grasp every opportunity as any other person could. I had to prove to everyone else both with or without a disability that we didn't have to be confined by the limitations we face and that even if things get hard no matter who you are you can push through. I wanted to show other people with physical impairments who perhaps thought it wasn't possible like I once did that it can be done and it is so fulfilling because not everyone is lucky enough to have a support network of friends and teachers as well as an outdoor education system to make things possible. ” Jodie
