Assess Yourself Explore Careers Create a Plan & Set Goals Expand Skills Find a Job All these tie into managing your career. Notice the circle is never ending. As your career progresses, you will reevaluate to determine your next steps. Visit the College for Adults for another presentation of the career planning process.

4 Self Assessment is the first and often, most difficult step.
The goal is to define or reaffirm who you are and what you are looking for in a career. Interests are what you like & enjoy Go to to complete the interest inventory. See screen-by-screen instructions as needed As you go through the assessments, print or write down the results. Or, use the College for Adults website’s Career and Educational Planning Worksheet.

7 Let’s review the results from the interest inventory.
The interest areas are based on the John Holland’s theory of career development. His theory states that skills, interests, and abilities fall into 6 areas. These are called Holland Codes or RIASEC Codes.

This is a snapshot of what you’ve learned so far and careers of interest right now. Your career goals may change as you learn more and work through the process.
