1 Position of Significant Trust and Authority (POSTA)
POSTA is a suitability screening mandated by the Secretary of the Army for the following positions: Sexual Assault Response Coordinators (SARCs) Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention Victim Advocates (SHARP VAs) Recruiters, Recruiting Support Staff, RSP Cadre Drill sergeants Advanced Individual Training (AIT) platoon sergeants. The Army began this screening in June The screening consists of Local and Federal record checks. Soldiers found to have POSTA offenses, activity, or situations are ineligible to be appointed into or maintain a POSTA. Waivers can be requested for certain offenses. The National Guard tracks POSTA screenings with the Personnel Accreditation Selection System (PASS) in SMMS Web.

POSTA Screening Requirements Local/State Checks: BHI National Sex Offender Registry Check (NSOR) DA Form 7424 (Sensitive Duty Assignment Eligibility Questionnaire) Official Military Personnel File Check DD 369 (Police Record Check) Federal Checks: CID HQDA-IG DPRO iPerms ASAP

3 POSTA Offenses – Type I These are any activity or situation (no time limit): Sexual Harassment Sexual Assault (including, but not limited to, violations of UCMJ Articles 80, 120, 120b and 125) Domestic Violence (as defined by AR ) or a criminal offense involving a child or children Pandering Possession, distribution, receiving or viewing child pornography Adultery Incest Prostitution Bestiality Stalking Sexual activity with a subordinate or fraternization of a sexual nature Illegal drug use or possession, to include abuse of prescription medication and synthetic drugs Any special or general court-martial conviction or any civilian criminal felony conviction in a Soldier’s Career (including sister services court-martial convictions) Previous separation from any service for any Type I offense Conduct in violation of Army’s policy regarding participation in extremist organizations or activities Initial enlistment waivers for derogatory information related to any Type I offense listed above UNCLASSIFIED

4 POSTA Offenses – Type II/Admin Reports
These are any activity or situation (over a Soldiers Career, unless otherwise specified): Alcohol Abuse (as defined in AR ) Larceny/Theft/Fraud/Burglary Relief For Cause NCOER or OER while in current grade or in past 5 years, whichever is longer Previous separation from any service for any Type II offense Initial enlistment waivers for derogatory information (not related to an offense listed in Type I) Assault (of non-relative or domestic partner) in the past 5 years Admin Reports that preclude initial appointment to a Position of Trust: Soldiers who are flagged, barred to reenlist, or coded with any administrative information indicating legal investigation is underway are prohibited from initial appointment or service in a position of trust until the flag, bar or code is removed. Soldiers pending determination by a MEB/PEB/MAR2 process are not eligible for appointment as a SARC/SHARP VA unless found fit for continued duty Soldiers with a currently revoked, denied or suspended security clearance, or who failed to attain or maintain a favorable NACLAC investigation are not eligible for appointment to a position of significant trust UNCLASSIFIED
