Background Gwich’in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement (1992) includes Yukon Transboundary Agreement (YTA) Gwich’in Settlement Area/ Gwich’in Settlement Region Gwich’in own more than 1500km2 of land in Yukon (mostly Peel watershed) GTC - the representative entity of Gwich’in GTC mandate to implement GCLCA Yukon-NWT arbitrary border

March 23 – 27, 2015 – Memorial University, St. Johns, Newfoundland: 10 Gwich’in youth participated in the GTC’s inaugural academic conference March 7 – 11, 2016 – Carleton University, Ottawa Ontario: 14 Gwich’in youth participated in the program March 27 – 31, Inuvik, Northwest Territories: Circumstances did not permit travel to a university, however a successful conference was held in Inuvik for 22 youth March 9 – 13, 2018 – University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta: 15 youth participated in the conference.

Economic Development Chapter 10 GCLCA
Government economic development programs in the settlement area shall take into account the following objectives; that the traditional Gwich’in economy should be maintained and strengthened; and That the Gwich’in should be economically self-sufficient I’ve taken one clause out of Chapter 10 of our land claim (economic measures) to show you what is possible. Our Economic chapter is poor, we could have done more The 3 programs that I presented, shows you how important our youth are to changing the future for the better We have to focus on changing the next generation
