3. Story Elements Defined
Setting- where and when the story takes place.
Characters- are the people in the story. Some characters are more developed than others.
Plot-sequence of events in a story. The plot contains a problem that the main character needs to solve. Exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution are all parts of the plot.
Theme- an important message about life that the author wants readers to understand. A story can have more than one theme.
