2. Purpose
To allow Servicemembers on active duty to complete training required under Civilian apprenticeship programs
Combines on-the-job training (OJT) and related technical instruction
Provides a DOL Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship to employers

3. Background
The program was established March 1976 by written agreement between the Secretary of Labor and the Secretary of the Navy.
Became known as US MAP after the Coast Guard and Marine Corps joined.
