What is the issue?
Racism, Microaggression, Discrimination, and Bias
Racism- the belief in the superiority of one race over another, which often results in discrimination and prejudice towards people based on their race or ethnicity Microaggression-is the casual degradation of any marginalized group. Discrimination-the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. Bias-prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.

4. I was a part of the problem by not being a solution
I work at Longhorn Steakhouse where I have seen countless numbers of incidents that involve race or some type of discrimination.
Before this class I never identified as racist or bias in any way but I would use microaggressions.
Over the next few slide I will try to convince you that in my line of work racism is very prevalent and needs to be stopped.

8. How can we stop the problem?
We can fix the issue by making people aware.
We can show others around us intentional acts of kindness.
We can put ourselves in uncomfortable situations that eventually make us aware of our own issues.

9. These videos and articles take place all across the United States in the service industry alone. Taking into account police brutality, and other racial injustices across the U.S. I think it is safe to say there is still a huge problem still. Be a part of the solution to ending racism by accepting others for who they are!
