2 Bud, not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis Genre: (Hysterical) Historical Fiction
This book won the Newbery Medal (given to books for the most distinguished contribution to children’s literature) The story centers around a young orphan who sets off to find his family during the great depression Bud lives by rules…what rules do you live by? (pgs. 11, 18, 42, 133) Excerpt on pg. 12

3 Save Me a Seat by Sarah Weeks & Gita Varadarajan Genre: Realistic Fiction
Told in alternating POV’s (points of view) just like the authors! Ravi-just moved to New Jersey from India-struggles to fit in Joe-has lived in NJ his whole life, and was doing okay until his friends moved Has APD, and is a target of the class bully Told over 5 days, with each section opening with the school lunch for the day…their pizza day is Friday  Remember, a new friend could be sitting right next to you.
