3 How do E-cigs work? The user inhales through a mouthpiece.
Air flow triggers a sensor that switches on a battery- powered heater. The heater vaporizes liquid nicotine in a small cartridge. The user gets a puff of hot vapor (containing chemicals to create the appearance of smoke) that feels a lot like tobacco smoke. When the user exhales, there is a cloud of vapor that looks like smoke. 7 Facts E-cig “vapor” is NOT water vapor. In fact, it’s not vapor at all. It is an aerosol made up of tiny particles that contains a mixture of nicotine and harmful chemicals. E-cigs are known to occasionally explode in your pocket or your mouth. E-cigarettes contain nicotine levels equivalent to and higher than conventional cigarettes. Highly addictive and habit forming Very toxic if inhaled, swallowed, or in contact with the skin. Increases your heart rate and blood pressure and can cause dizziness, nausea, and stomach pain. Causes anxiety, irritability, headaches, sleep disturbances, hunger and cravings when going through withdrawal Inhalation of nicotine may aggravate existing respiratory conditions, such as asthma.
