The S.T.E.P Academy in simple terms
An intense program that will prepare students with the tools needed to be successful in today’s work environment, and address the “essential skills” needed to perform today’s jobs. The training focuses on empowering students to convert the conceptual understanding of soft skills into everyday practice on the job.

11/11/2018 Employers are estimating that 39% of high school students entering the workforce are unprepared for entry-level positions, it is critical that high school graduates possess basic skills required of the workforce (Conference Board et al., 2006). For seniors only at A/V Through multiple areas: Soft skills and Academics (workforce applications) realistic work- every day tasks ACT WorkKeys- foundation to identify skill gaps ACT KeyTrain – ongoing through out the program to work on those gaps and skills needed. Academy program provides the following benefits: Goal # 1 Ensures that objectives adopted in the Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards are introduced to each student in a planned sequence Goal # 2 Ensures academic and career planning for each student Goal # 3 Provides support to families by advocating for their child’s academic, personal/social and career development Delivers a one semester S.T.E.P. Course Competencies Understand the soft skills needed to be a productive member of the workforce. Professional portfolio through articulating individual skills and experience on paper (cover letter, resume) and in person (interview). Gain knowledge and explore career training programs and/or opportunities available in the current workforce (Career Action Plan) Demonstrate basic level computer literacy (if applicable). Demonstrate pre- apprentice level skill in a certificate program offered at HACC (if applicable).

How much does it cost to join the STEP Academy?
Total cost per student is $1700 Solanco’s School District will cover $1400 Families are responsible for $300
