Curriculum: Tied to Common Core Standards Continue to develop reading skills and strategies Homework assignment two – three nights each week (independent reading always).

3 Science ~ Mrs. Sherwood Full Option Science System- hands on
No text– study class labs/notes Grading– lab & mastery grades Populations/Ecosystems, Cells, 6 Kingdoms, Microscopes, Genetics, Body Systems Science binder Next Generation Standards- Common Core Consumable items Science Supply list- donation sheet

4 Social Studies ~ Mrs. Crome
Huge book !! 1 at school and 1 at home! Extra credit offered Combination of test and project assessments – 50% Classwork 40% - Homework 10% Website ~ Test/Project dates, Extra credit, classzone.com Field trip!! Curriculum map on school website.

5 Language Arts ~ All Types of writing will include Expository, Descriptive, Narrative, and Argumentative. Some students will rotate. Each teacher has additional projects and activities for their class. Classes will include spelling lists and quizzes. There will be Advisory throughout the year.

6 Math ~ Mrs. Morgan Curriculum: Common Core Standards (no book)
We use calculators (TI30XA) Wal-Mart $10 Grading: overall grade weighted average (hw accuracy, weekly quizzes, unit tests, quarter exams, projects) Homework every day (Math binder) Test or Quiz every Friday (last day of week) Quiz/Test Re-takes

A verbal warning may be given by the teacher Includes areas such as not following directions, disrespect to staff or students, and disrupting class Late stays on early dismissal days (academic) Mr. Snider

10 Discipline cont. Gross misconduct dealt with by administration
Quarterly Reward Party – No F’s, no points, no referrals, attendance, punch card Punch card in planners mainly deals with responsibility. New card each quarter. Mr. Mayhall

12 Student Led Conferences
Students prepare after midterm End of the first quarter (Oct ) Students must come to the conference Appointments are set up on Skyward Great communication between students and parents!! Letter will be sent home at midterm with instructions! Mrs. Crome

13 Team Meetings Orange team teachers meet daily from 12:45 – 1:20.
You may schedule an appointment or call during that time to check on your student’s progress You may talk to all teachers at one time Mrs. Morgan

15 Skyward Grades are NOT updated daily
Absent work / Late work will be recorded as a ZERO until the work is turned in, graded, and entered in Skyward Contact the office if you want paper copy of grades Mrs. Sherwood
