MADE OF:
I am surrounded by DOUBLE membrane called the Nuclear Envelope.
My nuclear pores are openings that control what enters/leaves.
I contain the genetic material (DNA) that has the information to tell all the other cell parts what to do. The nucleolus is a dark spot that makes RNA for ribosomes. My DNA can change form from condensed tightly into CHROMOSOMES during cell division to loosely packed into CHROMATIN when cell is “doing its job”.
FUNCTION:
My job is to be the control center of cell
MISCELLANEOUS:
I am only found in eukaryotes (animals, plants, fungi, and protists)
Eukaryotic DNA is in linear chromosomes but prokaryotic DNA is circular & free floating in cytoplasm.

NUCLEOLUS is my friend because it is the place that makes the RNA for ribosomes. Without it RNA wouldn’t be able to carry the information from me out to the cytoplasm of the cell and help make the proteins needed to do the work my cell needs to stay alive.
NUCLEAR PORES are my friends because they allow molecules to move into and out of me. I need subunits like nucleotides to enter so I can build my DNA and I need RNA to leave so the cell knows what to do.
DNA is my friend because that is where my genetic code is stored. During mitosis this information is copied and passed to daughter cells as the body I am in grows and develops.
RNA is my friend because it carries the directions to tell the ribosomes the correct sequence of amino acids to use when building proteins. Different sequences make different proteins that do different jobs in my cell.
