PCC #2 Rough draft feedback
My Favorite mistakes
2
Lack of good research Boo! YAY! “gender roles in American society”
Imdb Netflix Wikipedia Weebly Wiki/wikia pages for tv series/icons/movies/etc. “gender roles in American society” “gender norms in American society” “Gender roles/norms in American tv series” “gender roles in the walking dead”
3
Lack of a thesis Does your pop culture topic reinforce (support) or challenge (reject) traditional American norms (which one specifically…class? Gender? Race? Ethnicity? Disability? Religion?) Example: Although Emma Stone's portrayal of Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 overcomes the limits of the damsel stereotype and represents a convincingly authentic, autonomous, empowered woman, the motivations behind the original storyline lead to the confinement of Peter Parker's role as "the man", thus preventing a true challenge of either the male or the female gender roles.
4
Lack of citations (in-text)
You’ve got to do two things… Introduce your quote According to the author (or put author’s name)… On page __, the author stated… The author wrote… As the author mentioned on page__... In the __ paragraph, the author wrote… One example of this in the text is… Cite your quote using mla (OWL Purdue cite on my webpage)
