Write the question and the answer to the following questions from Chapter 29, Section 1: What are the three types of sponges and what are their skeletons made of? Draw a choanocyte and label the following parts: flagellum, food vacuole, trapped organism, nucleus Draw a simple sponge and label the following parts: mesoglea, ostia, osculum, amoebocyte, choanocyte. What is a gemmule and how is it important to the survival of a sponge? Is self-fertilization possible for sponges? Why or why not? Summarize how a sponge feeds and distributes nutrients. Zoology Friday(10/9/09) Objective: Learn about the body plan of Hydra and Sponges. Pick up a Chapter 29 study notes packet. Pick up a coloring lab packet and begin coloring the lab sheets. When you are finished with your coloring lab, please put it into the period drawer. Thank you for talking quietly while you work on your coloring lab. We will be moving the Chapter 29 test to October 16, 2009.

Silent Reading Time The first 20 minutes of 4th period is designated as reading time. Please bring reading material to read silently during this period. If you do not have reading material, I have magazines available on my desk or books on my shelf. Please return them when you are finished using them for reading period. This period is for reading only. Please do not visit, work on homework, or sleep.
