Formative Performance Task 1 SUBSTITUTION How did democracy emerge from the early political systems in Greece? Description of Formative Performance Task: You will view Prezi. Then, define types of governments in ancient Greece and contrast government types with the Athenian democracy. Steps: Watch a Prezi, linked to the right, as a whole group on the promethean board. Use the different resources linked in the Prezi to take notes about the 4 different styles used in ancient Greece. Define the different types of governments in ancient Greece. Contrast government types with the Athenian democracy. Steps: Have 1 person in your group log into a device with internet access. Click on the edpuzzle link on the right. Watch and answer the questions for the video titled “ About Government in Athens.” Be sure to press submit when you finish answering each question. Summative Performance Task 3 MODIFICATION How did democracy emerge from the early political systems in Greece? Description of Summative Performance Task: You will read and study 3 documents provided in Padlet. Then, use that information to answer the prompt. Steps: Click the link to the right and read the writing prompt to the right. This is the question that will guide you through each of the sources. Keep in mind, each person will be responsible for his/her own written response to the prompt. Each group will be assigned one document to read and answer the question underneath the document. Record your answer by clicking on the plus sign underneath your assigned document’s column. With a partner, begin with source 1 and read the answers at the bottom of each question. After reviewing the primary source and the answers in each column, click on the + sign and respond to the given prompt. *Remember to put you and your partners nickname at the beginning of each response. Read the writing prompt once again. On a separate sheet of paper I have given you, write a complete response to the question. Summative Performance Task 4 REDEFINITION How did democracy emerge from the early political systems in Greece? Description of Summative Performance Task: You will use Clips to create a short video that will answer the task question. Steps: Having already examined the sources, completed Prezi, Edpuzzle and Padlet, each person in the group of four should already have a completed, written response to the task question. Open the Clips app and tap the down arrow button at the top left of the screen and select New Video. On the 1st slide, select the T icon on the top left, and create a title that includes the topic of the question. Then, use your voice to record your question and your answer. (To insert a photo, select photo and take a picture of the item that you want to insert or upload from the iPad’s camera. To record yourself, select video and record yourself or have a partner record you while you are speaking.) When complete, select the Share icon at the bottom right and select Save Video. How to post the video: Login to my Blackboard site. Then click on the discussion board with the topic “ Democracy.” Click on “add new thread,” and in the subject box put the title of your video. Click on the “attach file” icon and browse to find your video in the camera roll of the iPad. Then click “submit.” To comment: Go to the Blackboard discussion board and comment on at least 2 student’s Clips.
