Crisis Hero’s darkest hour; faces death

Treasure Hero claims treasure, special recognition, or power

Result Varies: the enemy may bow down, is defeated, or chases the hero back to the ordinary world

Return Hero returns to ordinary world

New Life The quest changes the hero-he has outgrown his old life
Dorothy tries to convince her family that they were the scarecrow, lion, and tin-man (she is changed by the lessons she learned) Harry’s year at Hogwarts has changed him forever because he has learned magic Luke Skywalker has also changed, and will become a great Jedi
