Skills Development Workshop Event Objectives
Sharpen Our Edges – through Train The Trainer sessions that emphasize sharpening our foundation skills, our teaching skills, and our collaborative skills. Certification / Recertification test opportunities for Senior Alpine and Toboggan Evaluators, and Toboggan IT’s. Certification Status is now available on the skills website. Password required Insure that training is done consistent with PSIA/AASI standards for Ski/Ride and National Transportation (OET) standards for Toboggan.

RECOMMENDED PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS:
Region Trainer/Evaluators including but not limited to: Senior Alpine Evaluators for recertification Senior Toboggan Evaluators for recertification Toboggan IT’s and Aspiring IT’s Level 2 or 3 certified PSIA/AASI trainers wishing to become Sr Evaluators Region Trainers preparing for PSIA/AASI Level 2 or 3 certification examination.

PROGRAM OFFERINGS: Session 1: Senior Alpine Evaluators Certification (pass/fail) Session 2 Snowsport Trainers Workshop (Certificate of Completion) Session 3: PSIA/AASI Certification Prep Workshop (Cert. of Comp) Session 4: Senior Toboggan Evaluators Certification (pass/fail) Session 5: Toboggan Trainers IT Certification (pass/fail) Session 6: Combined Senior Toboggan Evaluator and IT Recertification (pass/fail) Note: ASE Exam will continue as a separate event.

BUDGET REQUEST: Revenue: Expenses: $10,000
Project 120 total participants at $45 ea $5,400 Expenses: $10,000 Instructors – 44 instructors and staff Per history – anticipate ~70% turn in expenses Avg expense report $350 (assumed hotel rates stayed in the $75/night range) $300 for other event expenses.

REGISTRATION PROCESS:
Region Director approves participants – submit list of names per session to Skills Dev/Cheryl – initial list due Oct 1 Individual participants go to Skills website to Register, provide detail information and Sign Liability Release starting Oct 1 Registration is compared to approvals, then confirmed to participant with course number. Approved participants log into NSP.org and complete online registration under the provided course number. Payment is made via website/paypal for individual registrants or via check if Region paying.

Senior Program / Evaluators (Rob)
Certification to become an evaluator may be completed via the ASDW program for PSIA/AASI certified trainers. For others wishing to be certified as an instructor, we offer testing through the Accredited Senior Examiner (ASE) program. The ASE will be held as a separate event, on an as needed basis requested by the regions and is intended to be a multi-region exam normally with 5-8 participants Senior evaluation QA will be scheduled as in previous years.

SKI/RIDE Programs for 2017/2018 (Marty)
ASDW Event will have three sessions: Senior Alpine Evaluator Certification – new cert for PSIA/AASI trained (L2/3), re- certs for PSIA/AASI as well as ASE certified. Snowsports Trainers Workshop – region trainers to focus on fundamentals and benchmarks. PSIA/AASI Certification Prep Workshop for serious Level 2 & 3 candidates to do some focused training. ASE training pilot program from EMR expanding. Additional training event offerings for Snowsport skills development

TOBOGGAN Skills Development Program: (Troy)
Provide instruction and guided practice on proper usage and handling of alpine rescue toboggans. Certify Instructor Trainers are able to teach and demonstrate tasks associated with proper toboggan handling. Certify that Senior examiners understand and recognize performance AS IT RELATES to the senior standard. New offering for those advisors that will be calibrating their region and need both the Senior Toboggan and IT Recertification (attendance restricted)
