These are pictures of a big sized pebble with angular shape. This type of erosion is called Hydraulic action. Hydraulic action is when the waves force the water into the cracks of the rock, that helps to break it.

3. then the pebble becomes smoother…

5. Till it becomes very smooth and rounded
When the pebble starts to be more rounded and smoother the type of erosion is called Abrasion. Abrasion is when the waves throw sand and pebbles to the rocks and it wears it away like sandpaper.

6. solution
Solution is when the sea water is slightly acidic and it dissolves soluble material from the rock. This is a result of a pebble with holes on its surface made of limestone or chalk.

7. then they become smaller…
Afterwards the pebbles become smaller and smaller because of Attrition. Attrition is when chunks of rocks get knocked together and are worn into smaller and smaller bits…

8. …until they become shingle And sand
