02/08/2010 12:35: Lost access chain in point 2 (PX24 PAD) Dump after ~14.5 hours ~100 nb-1
2
02/08/2010 Dump: Correct sequence of events:
Investigation by Access team to prepare intervention: suspected bad contact on PAD sensor Re-establish beam conditions in the mean time
3
02/08/2010 During pre-cycle operational error in the sequence to enable/reset of the Tune FB trip of RQTF/RQTD Tasks being implemented in the sequencer RQ10.R8 B1 and B2 tripped at injection: current lead water cooling fault (spike) leading to a trip of the power converter. PC expert: access might be required if it reappears Ready to inject at 16:20 16:30 Access problem again: lost patrol in UP25
4
02/08/2010 From access piquet: Origin of the two problems: water leak from the roof of building SDX2 (bât 2285). Temporary fix: Connectors dried. Plastic cover in place Further actions (in case of a stop of 3 hours): Replacement of the connectors to prevent malfunction from oxidation. Roof repair (inspection today) Exchanged PowerPC module for BPM in point 1 Intervention and patrol finished by ~19:00 Injection starting at 19:45
5
02/08/2010 Injection still not clean particularly for B1.
Dump while filling
6
02/08/2010 Being investigated: forest of lines with ~50 Hz spacing observed at injection and flat-top
7
03/08/2010 Stable beams from 00:20: B1 suffering more
Bunch length B1 shortening when in collision. Real?
8
03/08/2010 Sector 23 Quadrupoles tripped at 07:39 after 7 hours and 20 mins in coast. Cause being investigated CMS preparing to ramp down the solenoid for cryo intervention ~50 nb-1
9
Programme for today Test ramp(s) with 2 bunches:
Establish better end-squeeze to collision sequence/settings. Clean orbit in stable beams (ALICE H plane,..). Check TCTs. Collimator loss maps. Beam dump validation (Dump with RF OFF) Transverse feedback tests at injection (0.5 hours) Hump investigations (~1.5 hours) Fill for physics over night Ramp CMS as soon as ready
10
Plan for the week Physics fills (25 on 25) Later this week:
Damper tests with reduced noise/gain (1 shift) BLM PM timing fix (in the shadow of a pre-cycle)
11
Interventions needed Delay of the PM trigger of the BLM system to be set back Causes problems for PM analysis (differences of acquisition rates between diff. Cards). Magnetic probes in the machine for the studies related to the hump - access in point 5 (GA, LW) Repair COD MCBH.18R7.B2 CV need to replace a motorisation of the water valve of the sector 56 - not urgent Time estimate ~3 hours Access team to replace oxidized connectors for PAD-PX24 in case of stop (3 hours)
