3 What are some of the things Odysseus & his men value?
Claim: Odysseys and his men value honoring his comrades. He also values friendship and mourns their loss. Cite: Odysseus said, “We left with our precious lives, but not with our friends.” (p.65) He also showed us how he honors them by saying “No ship made sail the next day until some shipmate had raised a cry, three times for each poor ghost unfleshed by the Cicones on that field.” Clarify: Since he cried in mourning the loss of his dear friends, I can infer that this was shown as a ritual of honoring his dead comrades and that they value friendship in their community.
