2. Entering Room 239 Walk in quickly and quietly and take your seat.
Take out your books, materials, and be ready for the day.
Turn in all assignments to the bins labeled by group color.
Starting next week, we will have a entry ticket

3. Homework Procedure Homework is posted on the homework board everyday.
Homework is to be turned in as soon as you walk into the classroom.
Homework MUST BE TURNED IN DAILY!!!
Starting this year, I have a new grading policy. For every late assignment, the grade drops to 59%. (This is subject to change)
Beginning Quarter 2, students who do not put their name on their assignments – assessments - projects will lose 5 percentage points. Beginning Quarter 3, this will change to the loss of 10 percentage points.
It is the responsibility of the student, not the teacher(s), to collect and turn in assignments and class work after an absence

4. Lining Up: How to Exit Room 239
You will line up in 2 straight lines in the hall.
The Boys line will line up against the lockers
The Girls line will line up next to the boys
Hands by your side, eyes forward, no talking, and be ready to exit.
Walk in a straight line, and follow the teacher.

5. Hallway Procedures Stand in a straight line
Keep your hands to yourself!!!
Hands by your side, eyes forward, no talking, and be ready to exit.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO TALKING IN THE HALLWAY!!!
Listen for directions from Mr .Mavridis

6. Breakfast (Homeroom Only)
Every morning you will eat breakfast in Room 239
After you quickly and quietly eat prepare your materials for your next class.
There will be a breakfast captain every morning to mark down if you took a breakfast.

7. 5th Grade is Switching Classes
We are now switching classes for Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies.
You will have 3 different teachers.
You will be in Room 239 for the morning attendance, you will be going to specials in your color groups, and for dismissal at the end of the day.
Be prepared for each class.
You will not be allowed back into 239 for anything you forgot, or your lockers.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Mr. Mavridis- Science and Social Studies

9. What to do While you are Working
Read and listen to all directions!
If there is something that you do not understand, raise your hand and I will come over to help you.
Work quietly and independently!
If another student asks you for help, please be polite and help them.
Try your best and you will succeed!!!

10. What do I do when I am Done?
Make sure that all of your work is complete and done correctly.
Ask yourself:
Did I rush through this?
Am I sure everything is correct?
Are there any questions for Mr.Mavridis?
If everything is done correctly and it is complete, then you may read a book quietly.

11. Getting Mr.Mavridis’s Attention
When you want to obtain my attention, please raise your hand and quietly wait for me to call on you.
Please do not get out of your seat and follow me around the classroom.
Please do not tap me on the shoulder for my attention.
I will do my best to meet everyone’s needs and requests.
Remember Mr. Mavridis is only human and has only two hands!!

12. Give me Five!!!
If you see me raise my hand in the air, I am trying to get your attention.
Here is the Give me Five Procedure. I raise my hand in the air and count down from five.
Here’s what it means:
1. Eyes on Mr. Mavridis
2. Please be quiet
3. Be Still
4. Hands Free (Put things down)
5. Listen

13. Moving Around Room 239 You MUST ask for permission to exit your seat.
This includes to sharpen your pencils, a tissue, or the bathroom.
You are not allowed to get out of your seat to talk to your neighbor or friends.

14. Bathroom Procedures
You MUST use the bathroom pass to go to the bathroom.
You MUST take someone with you.
You MUST sign in and out when leaving for the bathroom.
Please be quick, because you never know what you are going to miss!

15. Group Work Expectations
Mr. Mavridis will be assigning groups
All members of the group are expected to participate, share, learn, and help others.
If some one is not cooperating, let Mr.Mavridis know immediately.
You are responsible for your own work and behavior!!!
Please be considerate of your group and do your best!

16. Turing in Classwork/ Group work
Classwork/ Group work is to be turned in after you are done and it is complete.
Please turn it into the bin according to which subject it is.
Make sure you follow directions and everything is complete!
Our Grading Scale
90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
60-69% = D
Below 60% = F

17. Trade and Grade Many times we will be doing trade and grade.
I will take the papers from the bin, and pass it out in a random order.
You will be grading another persons paper. It will be someone who most likely does not sit near you.
When you grade someone else’s work please be considerate and fair.
Please listen for the correct answer. If there is something that you are unsure of raise your hand AFTER I went over the assignment.
Please listen carefully for the percentages. I will only repeat them ONCE!
Once we are done I will collect them and enter them.

18. How to Write a Heading Your heading should be on ALL assignments.
Points will be deducted if there is not a proper heading!

19. Listening and Responding to Questions
Please respect your classmates and teachers.
Listen to what other students have to say.
Raise you hand if you have something to say.
Wait until Mr.Mavridis calls on you to speak.
If there is something you disagree with, do not be afraid to speak up. However, please be considerate to what others say.

20. Classroom Rules Listen when others are talking. Follow directions.
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
Work quietly and do not disturb others.
Show respect for school and personal property.
Work and play in a safe manner.

22. Class Dojo Points
Each student will be on a Class Dojo points system. Mr.Mavridis can give points for good behavior or take points away.
Once a quarter (depending on behavior) we will have a dojo day with a movie and snacks! 
More information will be coming your way!

23. Desk and Locker
At your desk, please keep your supplies neat and tidy and off the floor.
Please keep your desk clean and clutter free.
Your are allowed to go to your locker at the beginning of the day, lunch time, and at dismissal. You are not allowed to go back and forth during class. Please be prepared!
Please keep your locker neat and tidy.

24. Checking Out a Library Book
When you check out a library book, please only take one.
Please return the books when you are finished with it.
Please take care of the books, if you damage my books, there will be consequences!

25. End of Day Procedure
Check you have all homework assignments in your homework folder.
Bring home corrected papers/handouts.
Wait quietly for Mr. Mavridis to call your group to the lockers.
Push your chair in.
Your desk and area around your desk is clean!
I will NOT dismiss you if my room is messy!
Walk quietly and line up quietly in your spot at the door.
Mr. Mavridis will walk with all students and dismiss you at the Exit door.

26. When you Need a Pencil Raise your hand for permission for a pencil.
Walk quietly to container on the front table.
Go quietly back to your seat.

27. When you are Absent
The next day you come back to school, please see me for any assignments you missed.
Complete absent work at home.
Note that you have as many days as you were absent to make up assignments.
Return work to Mr.Mavridis.

28. When you forget your Homework
When you forget your homework, you are to let me know immediately.
You will then be filling out a Not Ready to Learn form on why you forgot your homework and have a parents signature.
Late work will be accepted as a 59%

29. Announcements No talking is allowed during announcements.
Please listen carefully, this could be useful information!!!

30. Lunch Procedures We will line up outside our specials for lunch.
We will then walk to the lunchroom.
Once we reach the first floor, if you purchased a lunch you may go to the lunch line to receive it.
If you brought lunch, you may enter the lunchroom once Mr.Mavridis or your teacher allows you.
Everyone is to sit in their assigned seats!

31. Visitors/ Substitute Procedures
Normal class procedures are enforced.
Do not interrupt Mr. Mavridis if he is talking to a visitor.
Respect Substitute’s Directions and Rules.
Be as helpful as possible to the Substitute

32. Fire Drill Procedures
We are to line up quickly and quietly in the front of the classroom.
Mr. Mavridis will assign a person to turn off the lights and close the door.
We will be exiting through the main entrance.
There is No Talking during a fire drill.
Once we are clear to proceed back into the building, we will enter the building quickly and quietly.

33. Going Home Procedures
ONLY go home with parent/guardian/ or trusted adult.
If you walk home, be on the alert.
Go to teacher or teacher’s aide on duty if you do not see your parent/guardian.
Obey all traffic laws.
