Buddhist sects allowed to develop.

Tokugawa Shogunate Period
Japan closed off to all trade [except to the Dutch and Chinese]. Japanese Christians persecuted and Christianity is forbidden. The government is centralized with all power in the hands of the shogun and samuri.
